I’m a social change agent contained in the mind of a visionary, the heart of an artist, and the spirit of an entrepreneur.
MY BACKGROUND
I was born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama to a nurse and technician/serial entrepreneur who are among the world’s most incredible human
beings. I was fortunate enough to attend private school from kindergarten through 8th grade after which I attended a magnet high school and studied pre-engineering. After graduating with an advanced diploma, I took classes at the local community college and worked. Shortly after, I left for California with little more than a dream. Six months later, I was on national television. A few months after that, I started my first business. I started my personal development journey in 2007 and I’ve been on a rocket of evolution ever since.
MY WORK
I am a producer. People who know me know that I wear many hats: media personality, author, filmmaker, business woman. When asked to use just one word to describe the blend of activities that comprise my work, producer is the most accurate. By definition, I use my intellectual and creative ability to bring things into existence. I think up ideas. I write. I talk (a lot). I listen. I contemplate. I read. I collaborate. I develop solutions. Above all else, I am a communicator and producer. Positive change is my purpose and media is my vehicle. I have a bias toward action rather than reflection. I have more ideas than I know what to do with. I believe that my work as a social change agent is an investment in humanity and therefore take it very seriously. I believe that social progress and economic viability can coexist. My work is an ongoing experiment to prove it. I want everyone who comes in contact with me and anything I touch to be better because of it.
MY MEDIA PHILOSOPHY
If art and commerce met and fell in love, I would be their love child. For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to do two things: impact people in a positive way and work in media. The journey to my career as I currently know it has been a winding and complicated one, but one that I wouldn’t trade nonetheless. I believe that media is the most effective means for infiltrating hearts and minds with ideas that ignite action. It’s my drug of choice. Movies, TV, events, radio, books…I consume them daily and believe in them wholeheartedly. I consider media and entertainment to be amoral, much like money. The person who creates determines the integrity, or lack thereof, of the medium. My plan is to organize as many resources as I can to create as much change as I can before my time is up.
MY PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY
I’m a lover of books, travel, people, ideas, film, tea, design, laughing, fruit snacks, fashion and God. My favorite authors are Ralph Waldo Emerson, John C. Maxwell, and Florence Scovel Shinn. I admire Eli Broad, Ryan Seacrest, Rebecca Walker, and Jeff Skoll. I’m allergic to hype, and I believe that power comes from commitment and diligence. I read and write daily. I spend inordinate amounts of time alone. I believe that life is both too short and too long to do work that you don’t love. I believe that, as Emerson so eloquently stated, God enters into every individual through a private door. I don’t just think outside the box; I live outside the box. I’m socially agnostic and find myself able to form connections with a diverse group of people. You may be one of them. If so, drop a line.
